Outward Bound Launches New Program for Agoraphobics

outward-looking-climbingGolden, CO:

In an effort to expand their outreach programs, outdoor-education organization Outward Bound has added a new course custom tailored to the needs of most agoraphobics to their slate of educational experiences.

Under the slightly modified moniker of ‘Outward Looking, Eventually’, the new course is designed like the traditional counterparts, to instill a sense of accomplishment through overcoming a series of challenges. The new program, however, will take place entirely in a small apartment building here in Golden. Participants are first given a week of ‘acclimatization’ to the new surroundings before being presented with physical challenges designed with an indoor environment in mind.

The three week program begins it’s first run next month, and will recur monthly.

The program’s philosophy extends from a slightly modified quote by Outward Bound founder, Kurt Hahn:

“There is more indoors than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps for the rest of our lives we will be unwilling to settle for anything less.”
