In Desperate Attempt to Bolster Currency, Venezuela Pegs the Bolivar to ‘World of Warcraft’ Gold

bolivar-wowCaracas, Venezuela:

In a surprise move announced today, the nation of Venezuela is officially pegging the Bolivar, the nation’s base unit of currency, to the ‘virtual gold‘ used as an exchange medium by players of the multi-player online role playing game, World of Warcraft.

The announcement was made by the President of the Central Bank of Venezuela, Nelson José Merentes Díaz during a previously scheduled press conference this morning.

In light of the almost universally ignored ‘official’ exchange rate of ten Bolivars to one US Dollar and the more widely used ‘blackmarket’ exchange rate of 12,197 Bolivars to one US Dollar, the nation’s financial experts believe this will instantly almost double the exchange value of the Bolivar to match  that of the World of Warcraft currency, which currently has an exchange rate of 6,579.85 Gold Pieces to one US Dollar.
